Program assessment is an ongoing process of purposeful reflection and planning, where one evaluates a program, course, or an activity in order to identify strengths and areas for improvement and then uses the results to inform decision-making. Program assessment focuses on what and how an academic program contributes to the learning, growth and development of students as a group instead of as individual students.

Every program and course at the college has “Student Learning Outcomes” or SLOs that indicate to students what they should know or be able to do by the end of the course or program. By measuring the results of student progress against these SLOs, faculty gather information on how the program or course is doing and make adjustments to the course or the teaching environment if necessary.

This webpage shares information with you about the results of the assessment of our programs. Each summary of the results will provide the following information:

  • The Program Student Learning Outcomes (PSLOs)
  • Assessment of PSLOs: what we looked at, what we found, what we are planning to work on and recommendation for students in that program

We strive to continuously improve our courses and programs so that our students can succeed in their education and career.
