The Association for Promotion of International Cooperation (APIC) is announcing the 2025 Student Exchange Program. 

As for the nomination process, we kindly ask you to send us the information of the nominated candidate by February 7, 2025.

The aim of this program is to invite foreign students from the Pacific and Caribbean islands and provide a learning environment where they are able to learn various aspects of Japan comprehensively and intensively in about 3 weeks.

During their stay in Japan, students will attend the courses of the short-term study program at Sophia University in English: “Summer Session in East Asian Studies” (to be held from Tuesday, July 1 to Tuesday, July 22, 2025). Students will also have chances to have cultural exchanges with Japanese students and visit some institutions related to international cooperation, sightseeing, education, etc. The details of the courses will be announced later through the Sophia Univ. website.

COM-FSM internal selection requirements:

  • Must be a current registered full-time student at the College of Micronesia-FSM.
  • A submitted COM transcript with at least one full semester with grades.
  • A minimum GPA requirement of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • A valid passport with at least 6 months of duration upon being selected.
  • Previously participated students of any exchange program in representing the college
  • are not suggested to be selected in order to give the chance to other outstanding students.
  • An essay about why you applied for this program, what you intend to learn in Japan, and how you plan to make the most of your study abroad experiences in your future (suggested length 200-300 words). Essay is rated using COMET rubric.
  • If all credentials are the same, and essay results are the same, the position should be given to prioritize sophomores/or the last year and semester students.

Application items:

  • A COM transcript with at least one semester with grades. The accumulated GPA should be 3.5 and above.
  • An essay about why you applied for this program, what you intend to learn in Japan, and how you plan to make the most of your study abroad experiences in your future (suggested length 200-300 words).

The interested applicant may send his/her application items to kanluntu@comfsm.edu.fm before the due date with the email titled as “APIC 2025 application”. The Vice President of Instructional Affairs office will announce the selection result by February 14, 2024 (Only the selected student will be notified)
