(Kolonia, Pohnpei) – Last week, January 21 – 27, 2025, two unexploded ordnances (UXOs) were found at the CTEC Campus of the College of Micronesia-FSM in Kolonia. One was unearthed during routine construction project work and the other was exposed after heavy rains.
The Pohnpei Department of Public Safety through the Pohnpei State Police Department was quick to respond to calls for assistance. College administrators worked closely with Pohnpei State authorities to ensure the safe removal of the UXOs. Further surface assessments were conducted to establish that there were no more UXOs at surface level. Face to face classes have been temporarily suspended with students and instructors currently working online until further notice.
